About Hampton Roads Times®
he Hampton Roads Times® is an online magazine for the Hampton Roads region — namely, the Southeastern Virginia cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Williamsburg, counties of Gloucester, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews, Surry, Southampton, and York, and town of Smithfield, as well as Currituck County, North Carolina — which comprises all of South Hampton Roads and the Virginia Peninsula, the tip of the Middle Peninsula, and the corner of northeastern North Carolina.
The magazine's purpose is to promote the region's ideas, projects, products, and services not only through news and information about the region, its businesses, and its history but also through insightful blogs on virtually any topic that one wants to discuss. The information and opinion blogs are open to all people, for the goal of the Hampton Roads Times is to serve as Southeastern Virginia's (and Northeastern North Carolina's) forum for debate and discussion of all issues.
The philosophy of the Hampton Roads Times is that the ideas, organizations, and businesses of Hampton Roads are the lifeblood of the communities of Hampton Roads.
The Hampton Roads Times takes a holistic approach to news and information, as it focusses not so much on facts and figures as on people, ideas, and history. And its approach to business is that it endeavors to shine a light on not only the people who own the businesses or work in those businesses, but also those who buy the products of those businesses, those who benefit from those businesses, and those who create an environment that allows those businesses to thrive.
The Hampton Roads Times strives to continually grow, adding more valuable content from an ever-widening circle of sources, media, perspectives, and opinions. This magazine always welcomes creative ideas and thoughtful articles from every citizen of the region.
